Robby Cook
Robby Cook is a member of the Judiciary and Land & Resource Management Committees.
During his first term in the Texas Legislature, Representative Cook was elected “Freshman of the Year” by his House colleagues. Since then, he has been in leadership roles in groups ranging from the Conservative Coalition to the Rural Caucus. Cook has been a steady voice on pro-business and rural agendas and during the 79th Legislature, he defined himself as the go-to legislator on water issues. Robert Puente, the Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, hailed Cook’s H.B. 1763 as “one of the most significant pieces of water legislation passed with respect to groundwater during the session.”
First Elected to the Texas House in 1996, Robby Cook represents District 17 in rural South Central Texas. A native of Eagle Lake, Representative Cook owns and operates a family rice farm in Colorado and Wharton Counties.
Prior to his election to the House, Cook served as Mayor and City Councilman in Eagle Lake. He is active in numerous agricultural, business, charitable, and conservation organizations. These include the Texas Rice Council, Texas Farm Bureau, Colorado County Economic Development Organization, Texas Sportsman’s Association, and Ducks Unlimited.
Representative Cook and his wife, Mary Kay, have two children.
