Perry appoints McReynold’s to advisory group on crime

Gov. Rick Perry has appointed state Rep. Jim McReynolds of Lufkin and state Sen. Kel Seliger of Amarillo to the Crime Victim’s Institute Advisory Council.
The council advises the Crime Victim’s Institute on the impact of crime on victims, relatives, guardians and society, and assists the institute in developing policies preventing victimization of society by crime.
McReynolds is the District 12 Texas state representative. He serves on the National Conference of State Legislatures Agriculture and Rural Development Standing Committee. He was also a recipient of the “Smart on Crime Spending Award” by the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition. McReynolds served in the Marine Corps Reserves. He received a bachelor’s degree from Abilene Christian University, a master’s degree in history from Lamar University, and a doctorate in history from Texas Tech University. He replaces Rep. Lois Kolkhorst on the council.
Seliger is past mayor of Amarillo, and a member of the National Rifle Association and Texas Farm Bureau. He received a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College. He replaces Sen. Kenneth Armbrister on the council.
